The story

By the time I was nine, I'd lived under two governments and learned three ways to be a stranger.

Age five

Pyongyang

I was born in Delhi to Hindu parents whose families came to India at the time of Independence. When I was five, the United Nations posted my father to North Korea.

We spent three and a half years in a country whose government, language, and culture had nothing in common with ours. It started a long education in difference, religion, and tolerance that no school would have given me.

Indonesia · Burma · Thailand

Held back for my English

Postings to Indonesia, Burma, and Thailand followed, and each one broke up my schooling. In Indonesia I had to repeat a year because my English wasn't good enough. When my father went to Burma, I was sent to boarding school in southern India.

My last three years of school, at the International School Bangkok, were the best of my childhood. For the first time, a mix of cultures felt like an opportunity rather than an upheaval.

The United States

Purdue

I followed my brother to Purdue University and studied Computer Science with a minor in psychology.

It looked like an odd pairing then. In hindsight it was the whole thesis: understanding how people make decisions, and building systems around it. I later went back for an Executive MBA.

The first job

Two hundred and fifty no's

I was a foreign graduate with no network who needed visa sponsorship. I contacted more than 250 companies and got almost nothing back.

A firm in Dallas finally hired me as a cold caller and put me through one sales training after another. It wasn't glamorous, but it's where I learned to sell.

2002–2003

A $300 banner ad

While working for a nonprofit in Indiana, I built topseos.com in my spare time to keep track of digital marketing agencies. I had no plan to make money from it.

A year later, an agency in Dallas offered me $300 to put their banner on the site. That's when I realised the people visiting were ready to buy, and the best providers would pay to reach them. It's the idea behind everything I've built since.

2004–2023

Building at scale

The portfolio grew to about 250 comparison marketplaces at its peak. topseos.com alone covered 40 categories in 80 countries, alongside CrowdReviews.com and topcreditcardprocessors.com. In parallel I founded DMA and grew it past 200 people.

Twenty years of running sales floors, protecting margins, and deciding which clients to let go. That's where I learned to lead, and it's the part of my career I'd most want to be judged on.

Best Branded Residences

Branded residences are the fastest-growing part of luxury real estate, and buyers spending millions had almost nothing to compare developments with. BBR brings the research and the best developers into one place.

It's the instinct from 2002 again, in a market with far larger numbers. Alongside it, I completed Harvard Business School's Owner/President Management program in 2026. I'm still a student.
